GrandPerspective is a free download for Mac users. Then open it from Applications and when it opens, choose Scan Folder from. If you mouse over the block you will see the name of the file type and if you right click, you can open in finder so that you can review, move or delete the file. The freeware GrandPerspective uses a treemap to visualize disk space usage. From the Finder’s Go menu, choose Go to Folder, and paste in: /Volumes. Select the startup volume in the list at the left, then choose column view (the one at the right of the three views). GrandPerspective makes it easy to check the what’s taking up the space. To check the size of the normally invisible /Volumes directory on the active startup volume, open a new Finder window. Each file is shown as a rectangle with an area proportional to the files size.
